Our Eye Doctor

Eye care professionals specialize in understanding how the human eye really works, as well as diseases and conditions that affect your vision – many of which do not have obvious symptoms. Eye doctors know how age and risk factors affect vision over time for young and old, and they understand the benefits and features of corrective lenses including eyeglasses and contacts.

Dr. Hopper takes the time to explain the results of your eye exam, describe your options and listen to your eye care needs. Because maintaining good eye health is an ongoing partnership, we encourage you to ask questions and share your health information, which could be vital to monitoring, diagnosing and treating potential vision problems.

Meet our doctor:

Dr. Timothy Hopper

Dr. Timothy Hopper

At an early age, Dr. Hopper became interested in the eye and how the eye works. This interest propelled him to the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where he received his Bachelor in Biology, and graduated cum laude in 1981. Following the receipt of his B.A., he attended the Southern College of Optometry where he received his Doctorate in Optometry, graduating with honors in 1986. Dr. Hopper has been practicing Optometry for 27 years.

Dr. Hopper helps people every day by improving their vision and helping them see better. He remembers the time when a mother brought her 4 year old daughter for an eye exam because she would hold books close to her face and slide right up to the TV so she could see. Her eye examination revealed that she had a severe vision deficiency and needed glasses. After picking out a cute pair of glasses, mother and daughter returned to pick up the finished glasses. Seeing her reaction – a great big smile at her amazement at being able to see properly – was one of the highlights of Doctor Hopper’s career.

When not helping people see better, Dr. Hopper spends time with his wife Debbie, and his children Matt and Katie, Phillip, and Rachel. He enjoys fishing, antiquing and participating in church activities.
